there is no real witness information. there is also no vehicle parts that might have separated during the impact on the scene. the chp is looking for anyone's help as far as what happened. again, this accident would have happened a little bit before 3:15 this morning, southbound 280 at the mclaughlin avenue on ramp. as far as the identification of who this woman was. they believe she was a woman. they said there is no i.d. on her. all they found was a set of keys. the eta for reopening could be another 15 minutes. it cob a little bit longer than that. they are waiting on caltrans to arrive. if you have business, right now, i'm looking at the traffic. it does slow at this point. it is nothing that is going to completely alter your commute. you can proceed as normal. this will only probably add another minute. reporting live on southbound 280 at the mclaughlin on ramp, bob redell, "today in the bay."

new details on a deadly shooting at the marine base in quantico, virginia. the base spokesperson says they found the body of the shooting suspect and the body of another marine after being inside the barracks where the suspect had been held up most of the night. they have not released any names but the suspect is a marine and appears to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot the suspect stayed inside the barracks after killing his first vic tichl. one is a man. the other is a woman. it is home to the fbi's training academy. >> new this morning, president obama touring two sites with historical and religious significance as he continues to push for a peace agreement during day three of his visit to the middle east. president obama visiting the hall of names in jerusalem and

later laid wreaths at the hall of remembrance. the hall of names is a memorial to each and every jewish person that died during the holocaust. president obama remarking on his visit after signing his name to the guest book reserved for dignitaries. >> we see how this place, this accounting of horror is in the end a source of hope. for here we learn that we are never powerless. >> the president then left israel to tour the church of nativity in bethlehem with pal stin nan mahmoud abbas. that church is considered to be the oldest living christian church in the world. president obama will soon be on his way to jordan. the u.s. supreme court takes on the issue of same-sex marriage next week. in preparation, supporters in the bay area are speaking out, including a 12-year-old boy. good morning. >> reporter: chief justice john roberts will consider two historic case ons the fate of gay marriage and also may be considering a letter from a 12-year-old bay area boy who has two dads and he wanted the chief justice to know how similar their families are. they live in santa rosa. 12-year-old daniel and his sister, salina, were adomted by jay and brian. they will be watching closely next weeks athe u.s. supreme court decides the legality of their union as prop 8 is set for review. daniel says he learned that justice roberts has two adopted kids of his own and decided to send them a letter. he wants them to see their families are very much alike. >> my foster mom always told me i was unadoptable because of my medical condition. when my dads adopted me, i realized that everything she

the time is 6:0 p rig7. a setback from the state controller's office will not stop the may or from trying to move the a's back to the south bay. they inappropriately transferred $148 million in assets before it was dissolved in 2011. that transfer included seven parcels of land where the san jose leaders hope to build a ballpark for the oakland a's. mayor, chuck reed, says he is disappointed but the setback is a temporary one. san jose does remain the best option for a new home. good morning to you. we are looking really good. this camera is telling the story of the day. winds are picking up. more bounce as we head throughout the bay. they are going to get stronger.

and 39 in gilroy officially making this the coldest start to the day we have had all week long, although, not by much. just eight few degrees cooler. temperatures are going to feel cooler. because we have a bit of a windchill. winds whipping through fairfield, sustained at 16. gusting up to 35 miles an hour. you with il see it on your futurecast. down right gusty. you can see where we are getting the whoest orange, where the strongest winds will be. the strong winds spreading to san jose and santa cruz. keep that in mind. tie down any loose objects. hold on tightly. the great news is, they relax substantially as we head throughout your saturday. the fiercest winds are expected to coast through the higher elevations. 71 for livermore. you can't beat that. 73, gilroy and 70 in los gatos. right around room temperature readings. you don't need to add any heat. maybe this weekend in places like gilroy.

caltrans has to get out and remove the larger boulders and recover fencing. friday, lighter commutes, south of the tunnel. keeps things moving smoothly. we will continue to track that. it is going to build heading over towards the golden gate bridge. your northbound routes moving pretty smoothly. a little north of 680. north 87 coming into downtown. this is the big concern. the significant alert, which continues southbound 280, starting to build now. caltrans may have just quoted th cleared that southbound ramp at mclaughlin. we have 2 of your 4 lanes open as well. bob is on the scene saying caltrans just arrived, letting us know when they will open the remaining two lanes. use caution through this glaring cone zone. meanwhile, back to the maps.

tracie potts joins us live in washington, d.c. an important trip, because jordan is a key u.s. ally in the middle east. >> jordan is. the president will be sitting down with king abdullah later today. let's take a live look at air force one, preparing to take off from israel. a dust storm grounded marine one earlier when the president was trying to get to bethlehem. when he gets there, not everybody particularly happy with the president's visit. we have protesters in jordan as the president prepares to arrive there. a little bit behind schedule for that meeting with king abdullah. afterwards, a pretty readout because they are coming out for a news conference afterwards. likely, they will be discussing the violence in syria. that's had a huge spillover effect on jordan. some 350,000 refugees in jordan.

it is a big issue for them. as you said, jordan, a key allie in the israeli/palestinian conflict. jordan is one of only two arab nations that signed a peace deal with israel. a lot on the plate to discuss as president obama gets ready to board air force one and head to jordan today. laura? big day ahead. it continues. thank you very much, tracy. we have an update to breaking news. the chp searching for the driver that struck and killed a woman on interstate 280 in san jose. that happened earlier this morning. she was found in the southbound lanes near mclaughlin avenue. this happened around 3:15. right now, caltrans crews arriving on the scene trying to help with the cleanup. investigators say they still don't know exactly who this woman is or what she was doing out on the freeway in the first place. our bob redell is live on scene. he will bring us the latest coming up at 6:45.

a peninsula man facial dui charges after officers say he drove the wrong way on interstate 280 for about 14 miles at 70 miles an hour. mike inouye first told us about it yesterday morning when the chp found the car near trucedale boulevard in burlingame. the chp caught up to the car. the driver, about 14 miles later just south of farmhill boulevard. a patrol car blocked him from driving further. the driver, 60-year-old joseph brinyolo, the chp says this is his second dui arrest this month. bay area police using twitter in a very unique way, giving people a taste of what officers do out on their job each and every day. all part of a 24-hour global police tweetathon. they believe twitter pages will post updates on services throughout the day followed by

closing down the seventh street on ramp to southbound 280 restricting traffic flow coming into the area coming out of downtown 280. it will be an issue. your northbound routes, 101 slows from 680 up to the airport. 87 slowing into downtown. it is friday light keeping things moving pretty smoothly here. in the east bay, we just have your slowing starting to kick off here south 880 towards hayward. the rhodes where things start to clear up. a little increase in the volume around the san mateo toll plaza and to the north bay. we do have boulders that have come down. caltrans has requested the chp shut down two of the lanes to clear the roadway. down to two lanes approaching the golden gate bridge.

>> welcome back. live in tel-aviv and israel where president obama has been touring the middle east attempting to broker peace over there. he is getting set to board air force one to head to jordan for more talks with leaders there. we will keep you posted on all his travels and bring you more information as it comes into us. it is 6:40. new details in a deadly shooting in the marine corps base in quantico, virginia, that left three people dead, including the suspect. this is video taken jououtside entrance to the bay. one marine shot two others and killed himself early this morning. it is unclear what prompted the shooting. one victim was a man, the other a woman. the base is 30 miles south of washington and home to the fbi training academy. south korean aid says they will send $60,000 worth of medical aid to north korea.

police are searching for the driver who left the scene of a deadly hit and run crash that shut down three lanes of interstate 280 in san jose. bob redell joins us live at the scene. we understand a hard closure is in store. >> reporter: the chp initially understood the two right lanes would be reopened. caltrans has come out and determined that they need a contract for the hazmat to clean up the bio hazard from where this woman's body was found, a short distance away. where the two chp squad cars are. to your left, you see the hard closure caltrans just put into effect for the two right lanes.

it extends all the way back into traffic. they have shut down the seventh street on ramp as well. they are telling us for the hazmat crew to come out here and perform the cleanup could be another three to four hours. this is something that is going to be eking into the morning commute. as far as the traffic right now, it is slow. when you come here. it does bottle neck but there is not much of a backup. it is not having a huge impact as far as adding too much time to people's ride in to work. now, it was around 3:15 this morning that other drivers saw the body, the body of a woman. they called 911, stopped in front of the body to stop traffic from hitting her. these were not witnesses to the accident. that's part of the problem that chp is having right now. they do not know who hit her. they do not so far have anyone who saw what happened. they do believe it happened around that time frame. so you are looking at between 3:00, 3:15 this morning.

southbound 280 to mclaughlin avenue on ramp. they don't know much about the woman. they believe she is a woman. they haven't found any i.d. on her. they said, all they found was a set of keys. again, right now, southbound 280, mclaughlin avenue. you have the two right lanes shut down. it is a hard closure per caltrans. it is going to be another 3-4 hours before they clear this scene according to them. reporting live here in san jose, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> you saw the caltrans closure. hard closure, we will talk about what that means in a second. mild slowing. as the commute builds, south 280 heading out of downtown san jose. that's the direction that's affected and talking about the seventh street on ramp. folks leaving san jose state will also be affected as they will still have the on ramp to southbound 280 closed.

it is just a few blocks away. we had flares out there before. they are still burning. we have devices that are there for hours because of the duration. we will have it through the morning commute. that includes the on ramp. expect slowing. just spectator slowing as well through the area for the rest of the morning as we will follow this in the newsroom and i'll update you, folks. we'll take you back to the maps. northbound 101 and northeast 7 shows the slowing. it is very mild. it is friday light for most or the area. we will look at fremont as well and see the volume of traffic coming down through this area. as folks are starting to slow for south 880. not a big deal as far as the volume of traffic along the nimitz and heading up or down between the bay bridge toll plaza. good news. camera shaking just a tad bit. christina, we do have some little breezes. what's in store for us. breezy conditions today, mike. we look really good for the weekend. wanted to point out it might be

moved to the side of the road. traffic is now able to move by. >> a peninsula woman desperately searching for her service dog after somebody ripped it off on b.a.r.t. karen says she and her dog were riding together. when she dozed off, she woke up, archie and his carrier were gone. he is a dog trained to help people cope with anxiety. lanahan is asking anybody who might have information to please contact her. the national park service is being slammed by a federal judge for destroying evidence in the wrongful death case of a 9-year-old boy. this is a website put up in his memory. he died after being crushed by a retaining wall at the volcanic park in 2009. a judge has ruled the park

service intentionally demolished that retaining wall before it could be examined. the wall was demolished the park said, because it posed a risk to others. the federal judge is recommending the district judge find the park service negligent for the boy's death. livermore police say they need your help to find a bank robber. this man walked right into a city bank yesterday afternoon and demanded money from a teller. he indicated he actually had a gun but nobody spotted a weapon. witnesses say he had redish brown side burns with a light mustache and goatee. santa clara county will host its second gun buy back event tomorrow morning in east san jose. the first was held earlier this month and paid out $114,000 to residents bringing in handguns, rifles and assault weapons. tomorrow's event will run from 8:00 a.m. to noon. authorities say guns should be
